International Conference on Special Functions & Their Applications (ICSFA–2026) – Silver Jubilee (XXV) Meeting of the Society for Special Functions & their Applications (SSFA) will be held under the auspices of the Department of Applied Mathematics, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India during 28 – 30 November, 2026.

The academic program of the conference will consist of R P Agarwal Memorial Lecture, Plenary talks, Invited talks, Contributed talks, short talks and Paper Presentations covering a wide range of topics including recent advances in Special functions, higher transcendental functions, combinatorics and their applications in the areas of fractional calculus, umbral calculus, integral transforms and operational calculus, quantum and post-quantum calculus, Lie algebra and representation theory, orthogonal polynomials and approximation, quantum mechanics, matrix analysis and matrix functions, q-series, partitions and number theory, random matrices and probability, artificial intelligence, neural networks, and related areas. A Symposium on Role of Special Functions in Approximation Theory has also been scheduled during the conference.

The three-day Silver Jubilee conference aims to bring together researchers working on Special Functions and their applications. In addition, it will inspire young researchers to pursue research in this important and rapidly developing branch of Mathematical Sciences. A good number of Indian and foreign mathematicians are expected to participate in the Silver Jubilee Conference.

About Department of Applied Mathematics

The Department of Applied Mathematics, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University, is one of the oldest and most distinguished mathematics departments in India. Originating from the Department of Applied Sciences established in 1958, it became an independent department in 1988. The department offers mathematics courses to all engineering disciplines and runs Ph.D. programmes in pure, applied, and interdisciplinary mathematics. With 13 faculty members and 25 research scholars, the department is actively engaged in teaching, research, and academic collaborations. It is equipped with modern computational facilities, smart classrooms, and a departmental library. Major research areas include Special Functions, Fractional Calculus, Differential Equations, Functional Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Scientific Computing, Algebra, Geometry, Optimization, Approximation Theory, and Data-Driven Computational Methods. Faculty members regularly publish in reputed journals and participate in national and international research projects.

Mathematics has been an integral part of Aligarh's academic tradition since the establishment of the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College. The department's foundations were laid with the appointment of Prof. Jadav Chandra Chakravarti in 1888, whose celebrated mathematics textbooks remained widely used in India for over a century and were translated into several Indian and European languages. Today, the Department of Mathematics at Aligarh Muslim University is recognized as one of India's oldest and most distinguished centres of mathematical education and research. Over the years, the department has been associated with several eminent mathematicians, including Prof. André Weil, Prof. Sir Ziauddin Ahmad, Prof. Abdul Majeed Kureish, Dr. Hans Lesheim, Dr. S. M. Shah, Dr. M. N. Basu, Prof. J. A. Siddique, Prof. D. D. Kosambi, and Prof. T. K. Vijayraghavan. Building on this rich legacy, the department continues to foster excellence through high-quality research, doctoral programmes, international collaborations, and significant contributions to the advancement of mathematical sciences.
